While I wrote about hexing yesterday, I am the first to point out that hexing is just one tool in the witch’s toolbox. There are plenty of other ways to enact your will energetically that doesn’t involve targeting a situation or people with baneful magic. To that end, I’m offering up another spell one can use in the fight against fascism: a sweetening spell for persuasion.
I use this spell specifically for when I am calling my elected representatives to urge them to take action. I want those officials to be receptive to my request and for my words to flow elegantly. I perform it right before I make my calls. For this spell to be the most effective you need to pair it with mundane action. This means you need to make that call, send that email, or write and mail off that letter soon after you cast the spell.
Sweetening Spell for Persuasion
As with any spell, make sure you are cleansing and protecting yourself and your space before you cast it.
You need:
- Honey – This is the sweetener. Raw honey works best, but whatever you have on hand is suitable, remember it’s better to have cast the spell with what you have than wait until you have the perfect ingredients.
- Paper – Any slip of paper will do. I like to use brown wrapping paper when I have it.
- Yellow pen, pencil, marker, etc. – Yellow is for communication and persuasion.
Instructions:
- Write the names of the person/people you want to be receptive to your message on the piece of paper in yellow. You can absolutely include more than one person on the paper.
- Smear honey on the paper over the name(s). As you do so, set your intention that your words will flow smoothly and that they will persuade the targets of your spell to do what you want. Imagine them hearing your arguments and nodding along with your reasoning. Also envision them doing the thing you want them to do because they heeded your words. Smear some of the honey on your tongue as well.
- Fold paper in half towards you. Rotate the paper clockwise and fold it towards you again. Rotate the paper clockwise once more and fold it a third time towards you.
- Keep the paper on your altar for three days after you plead your case. Then, dispose of it either by burying it (to cement the spell) or by burning it (to release the energy to the universe).
If you want to tap into planetary energies to give your spell more oomph, cast it during Mercury hours. You can also call on your deities, ancestors, helper spirits, angels, or other spiritual support to aid in casting the spell.
